Welcome to Westbourne Academy
A Message from the Principal
It is with a great sense of excitement and pride that I become the new Principal of Westbourne Academy.
I look forward to building on the record breaking 2014 GCSE exam results to ensure that our young people can meet their personal and academic potential. Our motto is that: ‘Together we learn to make a difference’ and I am determined to work alongside our students, parents/carers, staff, governors and our academy sponsor to ensure that all our young people are given every opportunity to succeed.
We will be an academy that places learning at the centre of what we do. We will know the capabilities of all students and support them to aim higher personally and academically. Through the curriculum, extracurricular opportunities, the pastoral system and the healthy ethos of the school, we will aim to ensure our students will be happy and successful. Westbourne will be an academy that continually strives to ensure that all students reach their potential and overcome any barriers that get in the way.
We will be a calm and happy academy. We will create a purposeful learning environment, where achievement is celebrated and where there are high expectations in terms of behaviour, attendance and uniform. Through reward and celebration, we will nurture the esteem of our young people.
We expect all our staff to be passionate about what they do and to know that each and every one of them can make a difference. We will create a motivated and highly skilled workforce, who are dedicated to making our young people reach their potential. We will invest time and resources to continually challenge and professionally develop our staff.
We will work closely with our community, sharing our facilities and working with our local partners for the benefit of the community that exists beyond the academy gates.
As we continue on our journey to become an outstanding academy, we will actively involve our students, parents/carers, staff, governors and our academy sponsor to ensure that they can be a part of our aspiration to be the best.
